NWA 999 (Eucrite) - 2.7g Partslice with Black Grains
NWA 999 has been classified as an extremely fine-grained
brecciated basaltic Eucrite with low Calcium and unusually REE
(Rare Earth Elements) rich. Some thin grey shock veins are also
present in NWA 999 which are more evident in the second image
below. This meteorite also has some unusual tiny black grains
located throughout the matrix as can be seen below. In 2001, a
number of stones with a Total Known Weight of about 800g-850g
were found which are quite fresh and display a beautiful
rich-black fusion crust. This 2.7g Partslice is part of the
Meteorites Australia Collection (MA.05.0096).
