NWA 3098

The NWA 3098 meteorite was found in the Sahara Desert during 2003 and consisted of just one very small 78.70g stone. NWA 3098 has been classified as a very rare R5 chondrite with a Shock Level of 3/4 and a Weathering Level of 3. Only four other meteorites with this classification (R5 chondrite) have ever been found and all of them are from the Sahara Desert. The specimen below is a Complete Slice with crusted edges weighing 8.0 grams and is part of the Meteorites Australia Collection (MA.04.0020).
