Sahara 97079
Sahara 97079 was discovered in the Sahara
Desert in Northwest Africa during April, 1997 and has a Total Known Weight of 928g.
It was classified as a rare EH3 Enstatite Chondrite and has been
described as being highly primitive and among the most unaltered
EH3 chondrites. An orientation of the chondrules is somewhat
noticeable in some of the Sahara 97079 slices or rather the
chondrules are a slight elliptical shape towards one direction.
(i.e. NW/SE in the photos below.) This meteorite also displays a
considerable amount of visible metallic Iron/Nickel (Fe/Ni). The specimen
is part of the Meteorites Australia Collection (MA.05.0075).
