Suizhou
The Suizhou meteorite
fell in the Suizhou area in Hubei, China at 6:50pm local time on
April 15th, 1986. Approximately 12 individuals were recovered
after the fall with a Total Known Weight listed as 70kg. Despite
the reasonable amount recovered, virtually all of it has remained
at the Academy of Sciences in China except for a few kilograms
which have
been distributed to a number of other museums and institutions
around the world. Suizhou is classified as an Ordinary
Chondrite, L6 and being a relatively quickly recovered fall,
displays a beautiful rich fresh fusion crust. This specimen is
part of the Meteorites Australia Collection (MA.05.0013).
